What specific technical elements of the film opening did you like?

-I liked how the film started at a low angle with low-key lighting. It gave a sense of mystery as the clip cuts to a mid-shot show a guy play the piano but covers his face. I noticed some technical elements like close-up and point of view shot while the mystery man plays the piano. There was an upward tilt shot that started on the ground and made an emphasis because the mystery piano man was finally revealing himself.

What specific technical elements of the film opening did you dislike?

-I did not really like the tracking, of when the man was walking to his car. It took too long to capture and that may disengage the audience with the film. Other than that, the film was good, and I believe the technical elements worked really well with each other in coordinating the clips.

Did this look like a movie opener and did it make you want to know what happens next?

-It did look like a movie opener from the very beginning. The technical elements allowed the introduction to replicate one like in a movie, with the slow approach. The Lowkey lighting and camera positioning gave a sense of isolation and when he went into the car with an unknown intruder in the backseat, it left me wanting to know what happened next!

Was there anything that left you confused?

-There is not necessarily anything I was confused about when I didn't realize. Since the video had no sound, it was hard for me to understand what was going on until I watched the film for the second time. There is also no title so, I have no first impression or idea what genre or topic the opening dim was going to be about so, it took longer for me to understand it. The ending where the cliffhanger was, appeared to be too short. I did want to know what happened next, but it didn't leave me in as much shock as I anticipated.

What suggestions do you have to make this movie opener better?

-I would suggest for the group to add a title, title sequence, and sound. Although the intro was really great and already gave the impression of an opening scene, it needs the title sequence and production company introduction for the entire effect.  They should also add some type of sound like sound effects and music, or a shout when encountered with the person at the end to give the audience more cues to pick up on so they understand what the film is trying to portray.

-After reading the review, I appreciate the feedback from this person since the comments she left was able to help my group in perfecting our film. We took in the advice and added our title sequence and sound to the video since it was missing it, and for it to be a movie opener it has to have these elements.

What specific technical elements of the film opening did you like?

-I enjoyed how the mixture of inserts of the character playing the piano from different angles and the black screens helped portray a scene of mystery. The slow-motion shot of John being slowly revealed starting from his feet was also a cool addition.

What specific technical elements of the film opening did you dislike?

-The only element I would say I disliked was the fact that it was completely silent. I feel as though if they would have added some type of slowly playing music in the back that intensified more towards the end, it would have made the film so much better. (it was already good)

Did this look like a movie opener and did it make you want to know what happens next?

-I would definitely say that their film looked like a movie opener, and it had a really good cliffhanger. The ending being the guy sitting in his car and then it is showing that there was a person behind it had me wanting to know what would happen next.

Was there anything that left you confused? (be specific)

-For this film, there wasn’t anything that left me confused and I think they did a really good job at keeping the plot consistent all throughout.

What suggestions do you have to make this movie opener better?

-Other than coming up with a creative title and adding a title sequence, I would suggest adding background music. As I said before, I think that it would really elevate the whole film and make it complete.

-After reading her review, she gave us good feedback on what we needed to add to make the film better, she really did not say anything was bad with the technical elements beside just adding a title sequence and background music to complete the film which we did fix since it was missing.

What suggestions do you have to make this movie opener better?
I don't think any of it needs to be refilmed, simply edited. Some mysterious or ominous music would work perfectly, maybe even some classical music to tie in the piano aspect. A title sequence with an appropriate-sounding title would help to specialize the opening scene. Some of the scenes are longer than I would deem necessary, so I would cut them a little, like the scene of him taking off his tie at 1:40.

-This person gave really good feedback to our video, I would say the best, mostly everyone gave the same feedback of the title and sound, but she made sure we had something to fix in our case she said some scenes are longer than needed which she could be right. I decided to point this out to the group to see which scenes needed to be edited.

For this film, I felt there was a lot that needed to be improved. For one, audio was needed for dialogue and possibly a soundtrack. Secondly, a wider diversity of camera shots was needed since nearly all of them were close up. I do not understand what is happening in this clip. It does not look like a true movie opener since true movie openers have sound, dialogue, and the audience has at least a brief understanding of the plot. However, I liked the atmosphere of the film with the low-key lighting outside at 0:20-0:37. It added a nice vibe to the film, and it truly has potential to be a great movie opener if several improvements are made.

-I appreciate the comments this person had to say about our movie opener since it helped us figure out what we could fix to make it better and what we can add. She said for us to do more variety of camera shots since all she saw was the same ones. I could see why she would say that, and we will review it and see which shots can be added that are different.

What specific technical elements of the film opening did you like?
The technical element I really liked in the opening is the drone shot that they did. It was really well done and added to the cliffhanger that was necessary to be a continuation clip. Another element of the clip I liked was the closeups of the piano, especially the shot where the piano is being opened.

What specific technical elements of the film opening did you dislike?
There was no sound in the video, this took away from the first 40 seconds. Especially since it seems like they are focusing on the playing of the piano within that. Another element is that some shots seem to hold a few seconds too long. This can be seen with the shot at 53 seconds, it seems to hold for about two seconds then it needed to.

Did this look like a movie opener and did it make you want to know what happens next?
This did look like a movie opener. This was because of the cliffhanger it was left on. Though with how sudden it was maybe it can be seen as a clip found more later in a film, overall it is a good opener.

Was there anything that left you confused?
There were a few things that made me confused in the short. Most important was what was the significant of the first 40 seconds. This is where the piano is being played. I'd imagine there is dialogue and music over it to make it make more sense but right now it is confusing. I am also confused of who was the man playing the piano and his significance.

What suggestions do you have to make this movie opener better?
Overall this is a really well made movie opener, there are only a few things needed to make it great. This includes the music and dialogue to make the opener make sense. Another thing is to shorten a few of the shots to make it not drag. Another thing necessary is a title sequence.

-Thank you for the comments, not only the bad but the good things you saw in our movie opener. My group and I agree with the fact that we have to add music or dialogue so the audience is able to understand the story and we already added it.
